Cassowary Coast Regional Council was formed on 15 March 2008 with the amalgamation of Cardwell Shire and Johnstone Shire.
The Cassowary Coast region has an area of 4,702 square km with a population of approx 30,000 multi cultural residents in a mix of urban, rural and coastal communities.
